Police dogs in New York state that bite a person in the line of duty are exempt from a 10-day rabies quarantine under a law signed this week by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Another new law makes it a felony to kill a police dog or horse. "State and local police invest a great deal of time and resources in the training of these extraordinary animals, and our laws must reflect that," said state Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, who was a sponsor of the bills.
