Aluminum producer Alcoa says the current marketplace for trading the metal is unsustainable. The largest U.S. aluminum company is asking the London Metal Exchange to make the platform more transparent. Maintaining the status quo, said Alcoa CEO Klaus Kleinfeld, will put the London exchange's authority as the price-setter in jeopardy. A lack of transparency eventually leads to a "lack of trust," Kleinfeld said. "People will look for alternatives."
