NIH funds Big Data knowledge centers

The NIH requested applications for grants totaling $96 million over the next four years for efforts to manage, integrate and analyze data as part of the Institutes' Big Data to Knowledge initiative. The new BD2K Centers of Excellence will develop methods, software and tools to integrate biomedical and health data, including images, electronic health records, genomics data and environmental data.
