Officials in a New Mexico school district have adopted a pilot program for the coming school year in which all students will be eligible for a free breakfast. In the first year, officials plan to use surplus funding for the program, and if it is successful, they say they hope to continue it in subsequent years. "Obviously, a good nutritious meal to start the day is going to wake our brains up and get us going," Superintendent Terry Myers said. "We feed a lot of kids in the morning anyway, so this will just give every child in the district that same opportunity," Myers added.
