Renovation project becomes classroom for Calif. students

Students in Jordan High School's Architecture, Construction and Engineering Academy are getting much more than a textbook education this summer. Students from the Long Beach, Calif., high school are actively involved in the renovation of an old United Way building. "All of the renovation is done by the students on their own or with a journeyman," construction and drafting teacher Mike Zeke said, adding, "Students can learn how to do something on a computer, but until they do it in the real world, they don't get it."
