S.C. city council authorizes downtown hotel

The Greenville, S.C., City Council has approved a development downtown that will add a 125-room hotel, shops and a parking garage. Land for the project is donated by Hughes Development. The city will contribute $6.6 million toward the $11.8 million project. The hotel will help travelers find a room downtown, which sometimes is short on lodging, Economic Development Director Nancy Whitworth says.
