Texas school district creates oil and gas career program

The Eagle Ford Shale deposit underlying much of South Texas has triggered changes in the energy industry and the high-school curriculum in the Laredo Independent School District. The district has created an oil and gas program focused on engineering, hydraulics and other aspects of the oil and gas industry. Students in the program will be able to follow one of two paths leading to either certification as an oil-and-gas specialist or a petroleum-engineering degree.
