Young, healthy people are key to ACA's success

How well the Affordable Care Act works will depend on whether healthy young people opt to pay for health insurance and offset the costs of covering more people who are sicker and older. Attracting younger adults is crucial because the law prohibits tools that have been used by the insurance industry to manage risk, but outreach to young adults will be key, and federal officials emphasize the need to remind young, healthy consumers that they, too, can find themselves ill or injured and facing unaffordable medical bills that insurance would cover.
