Breitburn-QR Energy merger to create largest U.S. upstream MLP

Breitburn Energy Partners entered into an agreement to purchase Houston-based QR Energy for $1.6 billion in stock. The companies said Thursday that the merger would create the biggest U.S. upstream master limited partnership, with a combined enterprise value of $7.8 billion and second-quarter combined production of 57,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The agreement is expected to be completed late this year or early next year.
