Survey: Teacher salaries fall slightly

The average teacher salary in the U.S. dipped 0.1% in the past school year to $46,953, according to a survey by Educational Research Service. The average superintendent salary grew by 1.1% to $116,244 over the same period, a gain that an American Federation of Teachers official suggested could stem from a national effort to hire top personnel to address school-quality issues.
