Franchise industry grows as entrepreneurs seek safer bets

Although credit issues are preventing many from investing in franchises, those who can do it are benefiting from "a terrific way for people to get into business for themselves, but not necessarily by themselves," said International Franchise Association spokeswoman Alisa Harrison.
