Work to start soon on final piece of Maryland water system

A four-year project to install the final piece of a water system in Washington's Maryland suburbs will require workers to drill a 5.3-mile-long tunnel into the earth. The tunnel will house a steel pipe to supplement a smaller water main that transports water from the Potomac treatment plant to Prince George's County. The project will cost $168 million to complete.
