27 Senate Democrats push for renewable-electricity standard

Twenty-seven Democratic senators asked Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to include a domestic renewable-electricity standard in the scaled-back energy bill that he plans to begin debating this week. In a letter to Reid, the lawmakers said that a "strong RES will give certainty to clean-energy companies that are looking to invest billions of dollars in the U.S." A spokesman for Reid said that details of the energy package will be published today.
