Amtrak awaits funding decision, launches fleet renewal

The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved $1.96 billion in funding for Amtrak. Although Amtrak asked for about $666 million more than that, the allotment is still more than what the Obama administration has recommended. Meanwhile, Amtrak took a step forward in its fleet renewal program by ordering 130 single-level "Viewliner 2" train cars from CAF USA.
