Clock ticking down on Congress' airline safety efforts

With only five weeks left on Washington's legislative calendar, aviation safety advocates worry that continued squabbling over a labor provision could undermine the passage of a wide-ranging FAA reauthorization bill. Lawmakers agreed on many enhanced safety provisions after last year's crash of a Colgan Air commuter plane, but the House and Senate remain split on an unrelated measure that would make it easier for FedEx employees to unionize.
