Companies are cracking down on the theft of plastic

The value of petroleum-derived hard plastic in products, including crates and food trays, has increased over the past five years, prompting an increase in thefts. Several companies have formed a group called Combat, or Control of Missing Baskets and Trays, which investigates alleged theft incidents, trains employees to watch for them, and seeks stronger punishments for those convicted.
