Federal funds will propel broadband in Vermont

Vermont leaders are aiming to get broadband access up and running but face some serious challenges such as geographic hurdles, a large rural population and soft business demand. But the outlook is a bit brighter courtesy of a $33.4 million federal grant to build a 773-mile fiber-optic backbone extending from southeastern to northeastern Vermont.
