Health plans test remote monitoring devices for heart patients

Several managed care companies are testing electronic devices that can enable heart patients to monitor their blood pressure and other vital signs at home and send the readings to their health care providers. WellPoint's Anthem division, for instance, is experimenting with a wireless scale and blood-pressure cuff that can immediately alert nurses when a patient is about to suffer heart failure and other heart-related problems.
