Jumbo wind turbines could shake up clean-energy sector

Researchers are developing huge 10-megawatt offshore wind turbines that they say have the potential to fundamentally change the economics of clean-energy production. The structures -- with a wingspan of 902 feet -- are designed to mimic the aerodynamics of a twirling sycamore leaf and intended to provide economies of scale that would make them cheaper to install and operate than conventional wind turbines.
