Texas DOT estimates price tag on Highway 290 work could run $4.6B

Upgrades to a 38-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 290 in Texas could cost $4.6 billion. The highway is highly trafficked, ranking No. 8 on a list of "most congested" roadways statewide. So far, Texas has earmarked $314 million to upgrade the road, far short of the funds needed.
