Women-owned firms account for a lower share of business revenue

Women-owned businesses' share of total business revenue is falling, according to a U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce report. Though the number of women-owned business rose 44% from 1997 to 2007, their share of total business revenue fell below 4% from 4.4%, the chamber's analysis of census data shows. Women-owned businesses account for about 29% of all businesses in the U.S.
