Leasing group places $475 million order for rail cars

Railcar leasing firm CIT Rail has ordered 5,000 new rail cars, estimated to be worth $475 million, which could indicate that demand for major commodity shipments will continue to rise despite uncertainties in economic growth, writes John Boyd. The orders for the rail cars will be distributed throughout next year to "multiple manufacturers."
