Credit card giants look to banks as partners in mobile-payment strategy

Visa and MasterCard are looking to banks to help them play a larger role in the mobile-payments landscape, even as other players such as PayPal pursue different strategies. "Right now, it is an open frontier for mobile in the U.S. ... Ultimately, when this all settles out, it is the banks that are going to be in control," said Jeffrey Green, director of the emerging technologies service at Mercator Advisory Group, Maynard, Mass.
