BIO in the News: Rule change pushed for small-business grants

The Biotechnology Industry Organization yesterday sent a letter from the heads of 281 biotech companies to Congress, urging a change in rules that currently prevent companies that are more than 50%-owned by venture capitalists from receiving any federal grants through the Small Business Administration. The companies contend such limits prevent them from pursuing innovative research.
