Exacting tribute from copyright "pirates"

Startup tech firm Attributor has created a technology-driven solution to allow creators of copyrighted content to extract payment from sites that repost their material without permission. The Fair Syndication Consortium, which includes The New York Times Company, the Washington Post Company and Conde Nast, has shown interest in the system but Attributor has yet to gain traction with large ad networks, including those at Google and Yahoo!, who would need to cooperate for the system to work, according to this article.
