Sales grow 28% at Verizon Wireless as churn dips

Verizon Wireless' revenue rose 28% in its second quarter from a year earlier as its churn rate slipped to 1.37% and the carrier added 1.1 million subscribers, Verizon Communications said in posting earnings today. The wireless division's average monthly service revenue per subscriber fell 0.8%, but operating margins increased slightly to 28.8%. Companywide, Verizon's revenue grew 11%.
