HHS national security plan taps into health IT

The HHS has unveiled a draft of its Biennial Implementation Plan, designed to manage disease outbreaks, disasters and other threats to national health security. The draft plan includes a focus on linking systems electronically, a need for sufficient IT and electronic health records, and use of social media. But the document stressed "there will be no significant sums of new public funds available ... in the next two years."
