Sales downturn continues to hinder small-business hiring

Small-business revenue fell by an estimated 6% in the first half of 2010, according to an analysis by North Carolina accounting software firm Sageworks. Those figures back up ones published by NFIB this month. NFIB Chief Economist William Dunkelberg reiterates his assertion that until small businesses see an increase in sales, they are unlikely to pick up the hiring that's key to the nation's overall economic growth.
