"American Idol" contestant launches IBD Icons competition

Former "American Idol" contestant Casey Abrams is raising awareness of inflammatory bowel diseases through his IBD Icons campaign, which gives people the chance to compete for the title of IBD Icon. Abrams, who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, said he decided it was "an obstacle I had to rise above in order to pursue making music" and added he wants to encourage other people to stay positive and seek help to manage their IBD.
