Digging on the 13-mile Brightwater tunnel is almost complete

A 13-mile, concrete-lined tunnel that will carry sewage to and treated water from the $1.8 billion Brightwater sewage plant in the Seattle area is nearly complete. Only 100 feet of boring through soft ground remains. Tunnelers on the project work 10-hour shifts and make base pay of $320 per shift.
