Union Pacific receives carrier award, plans upgrade projects in Minn.

Union Pacific has been honored as the 2010 rail carrier of the year by WWL Vehicle Services Americas, who recognized the Class I's efficient customer service, on-time performance and quality. Meanwhile, UP plans tie upgrades on a 66-mile track route between Minneapolis and Ottawa, Minn., at a cost of more than $11 million as part of the railroad's $3.3 billion capital expenditure program for 2011.
