3D animation, imagery boost efficiency in oil, gas operations, worker training

Oil and natural gas companies can boost efficiency in training workers and performing operations through 3D animation and imagery, said Oliver Diaz, CEO of media and software firm FuelFX. Examples of this technology are virtual reality, through which companies can recreate events and virtually train a worker on a rig, and augmented reality, which helps in monitoring equipment temperature and supply levels, he said. "It's about changing people's experience and situational awareness at work ... it's about communicating, training and imparting knowledge with the solutions," Diaz said.
