Congress passes bill to rescue housing market

The broad housing-rescue legislation passed by the House on Wednesday and the Senate on Saturday offers emergency funding to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with establishing a $300 billion fund to help struggling homeowners. President George W. Bush, after dropping his opposition to the bill last week, is expected to sign the bill quickly.
