Florida tomato growers to call for compensation, safety plan

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson and some of the state's tomato growers will speak this week at congressional hearings to push for compensation for industry losses from the recent salmonella outbreak. California growers are set to join Florida officials in asking for a mandatory national program to ensure tomato safety.
