South L.A. could ban new quickservice restaurants for one year

A committee has approved a one-year moratorium on new quickservice restaurants in South Los Angeles. The measure, which will become law if it is approved by the full Los Angeles City Council and the mayor, would prevent new quickservice restaurants from opening within a 32-square-mile area.
