Airlines continue to struggle despite some optimistic trends

Airlines are seeing some optimistic signs of recovery, including successful fare hikes, planes being about as full as they were last year and increasing business traffic. Executives are quick to point out, however, that business traffic continues to lag and tickets are deeply discounted. "The year-over-year drop in business revenue in June was slightly better than what we saw in April and May, although it is still significantly down," said Continental Airlines President Jeff Smisek.
