Canadian city bans lawn sprinklers to conserve water

The city of Abbotsford, British Columbia, has banned all lawn sprinklers to conserve water for firefighting. "We want to keep our reservoirs full because generally you fight fires using water in the reservoirs," said Jim Gordon, managing director of engineering. The city still allows residents to water gardens with hand-held water hoses or watering cans.
