Kansas power line wins approval

Plans for a 180-mile power line last week received approval from the Kansas Corporation Commission. The 765-kilovolt line will carry about six times as much electricity as standard transmission cables. The estimated $450 million project is expected to create 10,000 jobs. The project still needs siting permission from KCC and approval from the Southwest Power Pool.
