Federal board seeks help to set up consumer-protection bureau

The Federal Reserve Board is calling for 10 nominations to an advisory council that would help the agency establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as mandated under the financial-services-reform law. The bureau will not have regulatory powers over the insurance industry but will address issues relevant to the industry, such as agents' use of professional certifications.
