Grocers compete with restaurants in consumers' quest for dinner

Supermarkets are competing head-on with restaurants for the dinner traffic, as many consumers opt to pick up prepared meals at the grocery store rather than head to a restaurant for their evening meals, according to a report from NPD Group. Almost two-thirds of prepared meals purchased came from grocery stores, NPD reports.
