Minnesota researchers look beyond corn to produce biofuels

Researchers at the University of Minnesota's Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering are looking at ways to develop alternative fuels from such sources as biomass and algae. Corn ethanol is "a very good first step in terms of developing the biofuels industry," but other feedstocks should be developed, said Shri Ramaswamy, department chief.
