Scientists use artificial bone, growth factor to regrow rabbits' joints

U.S. scientists said they were able to induce rabbits' bodies to regrow their joints covered with cartilage by implanting an artificial bone together with the transforming growth factor beta-3, a compound that stimulates cell development. The technology one day could be used to treat patients with advanced arthritis, the lead researcher said.
