AAR: Freight traffic, intermodal volume post gains

The number of freight carloads at U.S. Class I railroads rose 1.4% for the week ended July 23 versus the same week last year, according to AAR. Intermodal volume for the same period climbed 0.8% compared to year-ago levels. More than half of the 20 carload commodity groups posted gains for the week.
