ACOs developing 4 shared risk payment models, report says

A Commonwealth Fund report found shared risk payment methods still are in the early development stages in accountable care organizations but identified four commonly used models. ACOs mainly use methods that put bonus payments at risk, employ a market share approach based on patient incentives, penalize providers for failing to meet cost or quality thresholds, and develop risk around a global payment system.
