IMF methodology exaggerates Brazilian debt, Mantega says

Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega has asked the International Monetary Fund to change the way it calculates the nation's debt. He says in a letter to Managing Director Christine Lagarde that the IMF's methodology improperly inflates Brazilian debt. Treasury debt held by the central bank should be excluded because it isn't used as collateral in repurchase-agreement transactions, Mantega says.
