Japan's Abe plans to decide on sales tax hike before fall

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will decide, ahead of parliament's meeting in the fall, whether to proceed with a sales tax increase set to take effect in April, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said. Abe's decision will be based on data on second-quarter gross domestic product, which will be made public Sept. 9, Suga said.
