Va. city's businesses get makeover through grant program

Businesses in Newport News, Va., have been undergoing a facelift as part of the Facade Improvement Grant program, with 20 projects completed. The program provides a 50% match for improvement expenses, with a maximum award of $30,000. The wildly successful program from the Economic Development Authority is allocating $700,000 for grants but has pledged to devote more as projects come down the pipeline.
