Hartford schools face leadership turnover, shortage of expert teachers

About one-third of struggling Hartford, Conn., schools will open in the fall with new principals, and Deputy Superintendent Jaime Aquino is leaving the district tomorrow for a job in New York City. Aquino believes the state should assign a cadre of "distinguished educators" who have demonstrated expertise in core subjects such as math and reading to back up the new administrators.
