Women-owned businesses post growth

The growth of minority-owned business in the U.S. surpassed the national average in 2002, as the number of Hispanic-owned businesses increased 31%, black-owned businesses by 45% and women-owned businesses by 20%, according to the Census Bureau's latest statistics. Despite growth, however, the Bureau found that these businesses earned less than the national average.
