Gates, Microsoft execs say his exit still planned for 2008

Although Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and other top executives say things are on track for him to largely step down next year to focus on philanthropic and other pursuits, Gates is still very much a presence, both in public and private meetings, as the company ramps up to meet challenges from Google and other Web-based rivals.
